From Coast to almost Coast
The time has come where I'm finally going to visit the homeland of my #1 crush: Mr. Will Smith! (note: John Krasinski has been demoted to #2 for he went off a did a silly thing by proposing to another woman) anyways, for those unfamiliar with his roots, im going to Philly!
Im off to spend a weekend with one of the finest people I know in the crisp autumn air, sharing masks of Halloween with the east coast and parading around a town full of history and exposed brick.
packing up my suitcase with boots, coats & scarfs. best thing about cold weather, my favorite coat:
Still finalizing Saturday's costume, its gonna be good! And just for the record, if I had a man, I would make us dress as Dog and Beth... one day. dream big i say.Hit It Boyz:

proof x2
yes, that's me telling Scott Schuman that:
"I hadn't creased my book yet
...oh, but, but I swear I look at it!
...I, I was just waiting for this big day!"
he thought that was so sweet.
and I think he is so sweet,
with the sweetest blue eyes, ever.
don't worry, im wearing a skirt. deceiving photos skills there.

Feelin Criminal
I can never listen to Fiona Apple without going on a complete binge. Her classic album: "Tidal" totally swallows me (no pun intended). Some tracks make me feel calm, others bring out my inner choreographer and of course, many make me feel a bit like this:
***
"What I need is a good defense
cause Im feelin like a criminal.
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I sinned against
Because he was all I ever knew of love."

subtle changes make a big difference
today, i accidentally slept in... again (i blame it on the weather). This has been happening a little too often and although a lil extra sleep is a wonderful thing, it cuts the morning routine short. I like to have time to read, pray, browse fashion blogs and pull together an outfit for the day. Since I was rushed this morning, I automatically result to the closest comfortable cothes I can find (as most people do) but try to make sure they have some kind of life to them. So, what I love to do and makes for a great comfy-just-ran-out-the-door look, is wear something that is normally common but tweeked in some way. So today looks like:
Patterned black tights vs. Plain black tights
Loafers vs. Slip-ons
Patterned black tights vs. Plain black tights
Loafers vs. Slip-ons
Throw in a cotton onesie from american apparel and a long cotton cardigan to avoid too short shorts... and poof! the normal is tweeked and is so much more fun.p.s. why am i posing with my hand under my chin like that? (we'll have to deal, im too lazy to take another)
tomorrow i have to wake up on early: lots of work (as usual) & the Sartorialist book signing! hooray

all black isn't just a mourning sign or Gothic fad, it also plays as a blank canvas to let accessories pop... like pink lipstick :)

Good Morning
There's nothing like happily waking up before your alarm, laying in bed and snuggling up with your comforter to the sounds of Beirut. Almost just as good: wearing long sleeves and sweats to bed.... I'm also thrilled to announce that my morning no longer contains a swollen eye or broken arm! hooray :)

5 impossible things to do...
...when you have an arm in unbearable pain:
1. drive and eat pinkberry at the same time.
2. fully cheer during the Biggest Loser. (see tweet from last night)
3. put clothes on and/or take them off without stretching one side out.
4. high five with the right hand (tragic)
5. the robot.

good news is, I can still type, which means... I can (and did) book a ticket to visit my best, Kelsey, in Philly for Halloween weekend! I've never been to Philly or ever had a Halloween on the east coast and I can't wait for the crispy air, church graveyards & real haunted buildings! to all my new yorkers out there: a potential train ride to NY for the big day is in the works. And speaking of Miss Kelsey, she just put her new album up on itunes: search: Kelsey Bulkin hooray :]

a love note.

I just saw the film "Bright Star" and it was breathtaking. It takes a moment to get into it, but the cinematography and the inevitable love story will hook and sink your heart in no time... Now, I didn't come to critic the film, but rather to give some thoughts that it placed in my head on the drive home. The love story that unfolded on screen was cliche to the typical 1800's tragic love affairs of starving poets and middle class daughters, but what stood out to me this time was the contrast of the love affairs back then compared to those today. Obviously, with evolution comes change that even progress/digress the matters of the heart and soul, but what has me perplexed is today's common acceptance of subconscious selfishness when dealing with the individual's discovery of love. In this film, the protagonists would never consider their own desires over the other and, they swore that even when traveling overseas or unaware if they would live or die, they would only have adoration for one another. Although that sounds over dramatic and tragic, it has me thinking that this is what love should look like:
Simple & Steadfast
What im seeing now is a society taking on less than love for selfish desires. We seem to be so impatient, scavaging for what could only ruin our appetite for the real thing. As if we were licking scattered shavings of a chocolate bar off the floor.. like we can't just wait a, just, just a moment for a real love affair that would close all doors on one's self.
and sometimes I worry that we scar hearts with this impatience.
have we lost all of our Patience & Nobility?
Courage & Trust?
***
Many will say that when the right person arrives it will be movie screen worthly, but is it really so hard being alone untill they come? At times, loneliness is most defeating, but, in the long run, im confident it is rewarded tenfold.

tie die
I hope you don't find these outfit posts to be too narcissistic of me... I put up logs of my wardrobe to express my art. Fashion (among other things) is just another way I express the creative side of my brain. There is a skill involved in scavenging, buying, and styling that makes what I do so telling. And after all, Blogs are an outlet to creative freedoms! ;)
Tie-Die top: Zara
In other news:-i woke up with 1 swollen eyelid. weird. any remedies?
-i just painted my toes with my shoes on (a lil worried about that)
